Zeek Rewards Closed Down

If you are like me and have “friends” you connected on Facebook that you had hoped to do business with but are stuck on the next big biz-op or MLM, then you probably have been hit up about a program named Zeek Rewards. I never looked into the program because my business model is not anywhere close to some scammy biz-op. Anyways, I was looking through my Facebook feed and guess what I saw? Yes, I saw that Zeek Rewards, the owner of the penny auction site Zeekler.com, had closed down their headquarters. Not surprised, I decided to look a little bit about it because I always like to see these shady businesses closed down.

So Zeek Rewards is apparently the affiliate program of Zeekeler.com, whic makes sense given the name. At around 4pm, their office in Lexington posted three signs saying they were closed down and to see their site for more info. It took until 9pm for their sites to come down. They also canceled an upcoming Red Carpet event for their company. The business has come under fire from the North Carolina Attorney General for being a Ponzi scheme basically, which is not a big surprised. Apparently, you had to pay to get into their affilaite program. I have always said if you have to pay to promote a product, it is likely a scam.

Anyways, not a huge surprise, but just a warning to anyone to not get involved in any type of scheme like this!

UPDATE: According to local news sources, there are currently 39 complaints that the North Carolina AG is investigating, but there have been as many as 20,000 inquiries about the business in the last 30 days. Zeek has stated they closed down to simply answer the complaints, but one could speculate that the sheer amount of complaints will close down the business.

  1. The nc atty general is doing an investigation. If everything comes out okay, as they feel it will, all operations will be back up and running by mid-week.

    • With all due respect, I highly doubt they would close their entire office, cancel events and have employees clean up their desk if they thought they were going to open again. I hope for people that may have lost money, it comes out okay. However, I am a realist and this site/program reeks of BS.

  2. Have you been ripped off, scammed, taken advantage of on any kind of a money deal for at least $2500.00 or more? Contact http://WWW.CLIENTSRFIRST.COM or call 1-800-497-4118 Free consultations.

  3. important not to confuse “SHUT DOWN” and “SHUT DOWN”. Zeek voluntarily shut its doors during the investigation which is going well. Shady??? Not sure what you mean but I am always careful not to judge or slander if i dont have all the facts as that would be irresponsible. A Facebook feed of opinions is a scary thing to count on and to form an opinion. One would be ignorant to do so.

Subject: Attorney General Confirms that they did NOT shut down Zeek
The North Carolina Attorney General’s office confirmed Friday that it has
made a civil demand for Rex Venture Group’s documents. However, officials
say they have not shut the company down.
Rex Venture Group, known to most as Zeek, unexpectedly closed its
headquarters in Lexington on Thursday afternoon, sending hundreds of
thousands of its online users spinning in speculation and confusion. Zeek
also announced online it was cancelling an upcoming “Red Carpet” event
scheduled for Wednesday, in addition to training, recruitment and leadership
calls for its users in the “next few days.”

The company’s penny auction website,Zeekler.com, and affiliates website,
zeekrewards.com, have been offline since about 9 p.m. Thursday.
The Attorney General’s office confirmed its Consumer Protection Division
issued a Civil Investigative Demand to the company July 6, requesting that
Zeek provide specific documents to the state, said Noelle Talley, the
    Attorney General’s public information officer.

“We have not taken action to shut the company down and are currently working
to get more information so we can pass that along to consumers who may be
    impacted by this,” Talley said.

According to N.C. General Statutes, a CID is an administrative subpoena that
can be issued by the Attorney General whenever there is reason to believe a
person, or entity, has information that is relevant to an ongoing
    investigation.
Paul Burks, the chief executive officer for Rex Venture Group, has yet to
respond to multiple phone calls and emails.
However, Dr. Clifton Jolley, Zeek’s media representative, confirmed the
company was served a CID, but he would not disclose why Zeek shut its doors
    voluntarily.

    • Shady is far from slander, as it just means questionable. 39 AG complaints make it shady to me.
