If you didn’t make some money on my last money maker, then you missed out. I know a few people took me up on my advice and did make some decent money. I know a few did at least 4 figures in revenue. Congrats guys!
Anyways, this post is about a method that I use quite often with my offers that helps to boost my ROI greatly. I like to geo-target based on demographics in the US and I will show you exactly what I mean.
Demographics are abundant on the Internet. You can find out how many 5 year olds pick their nose and eat it in the state of Wisconsin when both parents work and their income is above $75K. Yes, people do spend time separating people into every little category. And that information is golden to any affiliate marketer who is looking to increase their ROI.
Let me introduce you to City-Data.com. I am sure you may have heard of them or even pulled up some info on a city before when you were using Google. They have so much info here that you can’t run out of ideas of where to target certain offers. But for now, go to their Top List.
Now, just scroll through that list and let the ideas start to flow in. But, to get you started, here is what I would do with one of them.
I chose the Top 100 Least-Educated Cities. I bet you know what offer I am going to tell you to push now too, right? Well, if you thought I would tell you to run an education offer, you are WRONG. While this would be a good offer to run in this area, I am not going to run that here. Instead, I am going to run a teeth whitening offer. But why?
Less educated people make less money. Less money means people spend less money on themselves and personal care. Less money on personal care means they can’t afford to go to the dentist or haven’t done so in ages even if they want to. How about offering them a way to whiten their ugly, yellow teeth for just $4.95 shipping? How about you give them a promo code too when you recommend this? MediaTrust has this one that is $4.95 shipping and you get a promo code too. Oh, and it pays out $43 from the start. Sign up for MediaTrust and get started with this offer. Also, ask for Wynonia as your AM.
But what kind of traffic do you run to this? Obviously, you would set up a flog or a farticle page and run it on your favorite PPC network. How do you target? I would target these cities I listed above in a 25 mile radius as well. You will not get a huge volume out of these, but it will be a good amount. Plus, your audience is targeted a bit better as to the type of people who are more likely to buy your rebill offer. Oh, and if you can, target it to women as well. But that is a step further that most of the time you can’t do of course.
In all honestly, the teeth whitening offer works on nearly all mediums. However, targeting is the key. Say you are running PPV traffic on the teeth offer and your site ad shows up on say the Wall Street Journal site when you go to view an interview (just an example). How well do you think a person reading the WSJ online is going to react to your ad? Horrible, yes? More then likely, that person is a college educated male who probably has decent hygiene and would not fall for your rebill.
So, you just need to find a place that women say 20 to 50 would spend their time online. Try online games and women communities. Check out Quantcast.com to get some demo information on sites that you are thinking about targeting. It does take a bit of time researching the sites you want to pay PPV traffic or banners on, but it is worth it in the long run. Your ROI will be higher and you will sustain long term growth. Also, if you tend to do advertising on the site for the long run, make sure you have other niches in mind as well to target, as people get banner blindness very quickly. Keep it fresh.
Alright, I hope that made sense to everyone and I also hope it was somewhat useful. What I am trying to say in general is that don’t be afraid to use all the free freakin info that we have available for free at our fingertips. The Census Report is another great tool and it will be completed next year as well, which will help get some new, fresh data for us marketers. Now, go make some money!
